The Biggest Secret At MB & Homeland - The Reveal

It has been nearly a year since Callum Houston join the group and since then he has become a core part of not just the series, but the channel.

How involved will he be?
Callum is mostly keen on acting, but that hasn't stopped him from writing several scripts for Doctor Who, Short Films and has even done some presenting.

How many episodes will he have as The Doctor?
We aren't too sure yet. We've filmed three episodes which will come out once a month from now until December. We might also have some mini episodes airing early next year.

We are hoping to do another six episodes next year (the same as this year) but we can't guarantee anything yet as its too early in pre-production to say.

Everything We Know About The Next Doctor!

We've had several small teases as to what The Next Doctor looks like,
but is it enough information to work out who it is?
The Next Doctor as seen
in Series 5 Trailer #1

It's highly likely that The Next Doctor is a new actor and someone who has never appeared on the channel before. His height and body type doesn't match anyone we've seen elsewhere.

the mystery person

He's already provided his voice for Series 5.
For both Episode 1 & 2, he voiced The Skull Mask Guy.
As well as, in two different trailers, the words
'Hello Universe' and 'This Is Where Everything Changes'
can be heard by The Mystery Person.

It also appears that his outfit might change between episodes, as seen in different trailers.

The Next Doctor Cameo You MISSED!! And More Easter Eggs....

Episode 1 of Series 5 is OUT NOW!!! and so far everyone loves it. This story revealed several secrets from the past, but also asked questions yet to be answered...

But there were some things that no one noticed, some references very few people picked up on.

Who voiced The Skull Masked Guy?
Very few of you would have known this but the actor who voiced the Skull Masked Guy is indeed our Next Doctor. He used a different voice to usual, and we edited it a bit in post production, but it was him. The body was portrayed by Mark Bray.
Samuel Moore & Aaron Hooper
at the end of Episode 1

Abigail & Ethan Engagement
The location in which Ethan asked Abigail to marry him, was the same place that we first met both of them. A small reference but a fun one.

the same shot from the first episode we met them

What The Coordinates Really Mean?
This is my favourite Easter Egg!

When The Deacon works out the code it comes up with coordinates. But to where?

Well... if you type this into google maps it will show you the exact location, the exact quarry that we filmed in when she arrived on the planet, bumping into The Doctor.
The Deacon solves to code

Episode 2 Release Date
From what we've seen in the trailers we know that there's going to be a wedding very soon.

In Episode 1 we see the engagement between Ethan & Abigail. Moments later we see Ethan getting invites ready for the Wedding. You'll notice there is a date for the event...

... this is the release date for Episode 2
August 24th 2019 will be
the release day of Episode 2

Series Release Date CHANGED!! (Coming 27th July)

So a majority of you by now have probably seen our New Trailer for Series 5, if you haven't we highly recommend you do before reading this blog post...

We've decided to bring the series forward from its original release of 28th September to 27th July (Nearly Three Months Earlier!)
Our Police Box
On Location
But it does come at a cost....

Our original plan was to release Six Episodes, one episode a week from September until November.

Instead of doing this, we've decided to do one episode a month from July until December.

Reason For:

  1. It gives us the opportunity to bring out promotional content in between each episode.
  2. It gives our not-so-regular viewers the chance to catch up on any episodes they've missed between releases.
  3. When The Next Doctor first appears on our screens! We'll be able to release a trailer for him as well as maybe do a Q&A with him in between episodes.
  4. We'll have content every month on the channel up until December, this is better than only doing six weeks of episodes and then silence the rest of the year.

Also something very small that you might have missed... we recently brought out our long awaited Competition Episode, but in the opening shot, there's a new coat hung up... but who does it belong to?

Why so quiet? - Doctor Who Series 5

We've not uploaded in over a month which is a very rare occasion from us. So what's the reason?

Sam's Last Filming Day & The Next Doctor's First
So over the last few weeks we've been filming loads on Series 5, this has been the main reason for a local of content and communication. This week we finished filming with Sam as The Doctor and we've begun the Next Doctor's Episodes, June is set to be a big month, packed with loads of filming.

We've UNLISTED 150+ VIDEOS! BUT WHY?

If you visit the channel, you'll notice there have been quite a few changes recently. But why?

Updated Thumbnails
We decided to update some of our old thumbnails to make them look better.

Some thumbnails like our Doctor Who Series 2 and 3 have minor changes to them. Just adjusting colour and/or adding small effects like glows.
Series 2 Episode 2 had a few changes, mostly darkening the photo and adding a bright glow to the monster.
Series 3 Episode 1 had similar changes, darkening the photo but making the key glow more.

Other thumbnails like Star Wars The Padawan III had a complete redesign.

Unlisted 150+ Videos
If you go to the channel now, you won't be able to find any News Updates, Podcasts, Behind The Lens, Gameplays Or Race To The White House

We decided to hide these videos to make the channel look neater.
But HAVE NO FEAR. You can still watch these videos. All you have to do is go to the Playlist tab on our channel. There you'll find Playlists for ever video.
Our Unlisted Videos still have playlists, so you can still watch them

Updated Logo & Cover Picture (Sort Of)
For those of you who follow us on Facebook, you'll have noticed we recently updated our Profile Picture to the exact same picture as before... and no that wasn't by accident.
The 'UPDATED' Logo

We've ever so slightly updated our logo, giving it a sharper Brightness & Contrast. We've also done the same to our Cover Picture of YouTube.

The Poll Which Is Dividing MB & Homeland

So over the last few days we've been voting on whether or not we should one day buy or build a Dalek. At the moment it seems pretty even with a group of people who are quite keen on doing so, and a group that feel it would be a waste of time and money.

We are hoping to have a meeting on it very soon with loads more facts and figures. Including the Pros and Cons of doing so. After everyone has been briefed with the information, we'll have a final vote.
This picture was used for promotional
content on Series 2 Episode 4 'Infection'
This is a 3D Model of a Dalek
The big questions is what do you think? As viewers would you be keen on seeing a Dalek story? Or are the Daleks overrated? Are they old news?

The title for Episode 1 of Series 5

The first draft of this trailer was originally rejected as it revealed to many spoilers. After several reworks, we are now comfortable with this version.

Competition Episode DELAYED!!! - Doctor Who Fan Film

So it was only a few days ago we uploaded a blog post talking about how the competition special would be uploaded next month, sadly within those days a few problems have come up, we are still tweaking a few bits in the script, and sadly some actors aren't free now until the end of April, mid May. So it looks like it might not come out until the beginning of June which is a shame.
Harri, Sam & Brandon will filming
on Series 5 in the Tardis Interior
But have no fear, the episode will definitely be coming, its just taking longer than expected. A lot of filming recently has been on the series, we also want the special to be a lot of fun and dedicated to the viewers, including all five of the competition winners sentences.

Competition Episode coming NEXT MONTH!! - Doctor Who Fan Film

So back in August we released a short video asking you all to send it unique sentences that we could include in a short Doctor Who Special to come out before Series 5.

Filming on this special will begin this week with the hopes for a late April release, we are also planning to bring out a small trailer at the beginning of April. This short Special will include the chosen five sentences from our winner's video.

In other news, we've been doing even more filming on Series 5, this time taking the Tardis to a train station for a fantastic episode, and quite the adventure. We are hoping another trailer for Series 5 will air at the end of April, beginning of May.

Reasons Why Original Content DOESN'T WORK! - Short Film News

So some of you may have seen our new Political Rage Short Film but sadly most of you probably haven't, it hasn't gained mainly views but yet something like our Doctor Who trailer can gain a thousand in less than a month. Why is that?

Here's a list of reasons why we rarely make original content and why it doesn't works:

No One is Searching it:
So the great thing about Star Wars and Doctor Who Fan Films is everyday someone is searching something related to them, meaning there is always a high chance that someone could stumbling across one of our videos, with stuff like Short Films or Original Content (Like Political Rage) Its rare for people to come across these unless you promote them really well.

We Can't Promote Them:
Like mentioned in the previous point, its very hard for us to promote our own content as we are a small amateur film making group, so we don't have the budge to get ads on websites or put up posters around our local city or across the country. This makes it difficult for people to hear about them.

We Are Beginners At This:
Even though our short films and shows have been some of our best work, we are still beginners at all of this, none of us claim to be professionals. So its inevitable that most of our original content will be overlooked by most people

This doesn't mean we won't keep making our own original stuff, it just means that we might not promote it as much as we do our other work, just because normally it doesn't make much of a difference.

Work on Series 5 is a NIGHTMARE! .... but doable - Doctor Who Series 5

At the moment very little filming has happened since the end of January. This is mainly due to the fact that we are all focusing on how we can improve Episode 1. So far the story is really good, but we want it to be even better! We are currently writing small scenes which could fit in between some stuff. Filming on Episode 2 continues next month, and we estimated that work on Episode 3 should be done by the beginning of June.

The series is a challenge but very fun to work on, and its great to see such a big flow of ideas from everyone. At the moment we are sadly struggling to put everyone's ideas into the series, hopefully saving some for future stories. It goes to show that tones of people are keen and enthusiastic about this series, we all believe that this will be the best we've ever made.

Series 5 is RISKY! Here's why - Doctor Who Fan Film Series 5

The great thing about a lot of the actors at MB & Homeland is you know they'll commit to the very end. The big concern at the moment is the number of new faces that will be appearing in Series 5. The trouble with new people is they can be very unpredictable, things such as life, work and family can get in the way, making things uncertain.
Harri & Sam while filming
on Series 5
No one has a contract or is getting paid, so theoretically there's nothing stopping them from just one day getting up and leaving, which causes delays and re-shoots. Luckily nothing like this has happened to Series 5, the re-shoots that we recently did were because of footage we were unhappy with, nothing to do with actors leaving. But it has always been a worry, we don't want to be half way through filming an episode for someone to suddenly drop out. So we are taking extra care.

This is the main reason for Series 5 not being released until September 2019, it means if anything was to pop up, we have time to recover, and carry on.

During a wedding scene
We also don't want to show any footage of the 'Next Doctor' because we are saving all of that for after his debut appearance. This does mean we have a limited amount of promotional content to share, but after the reveal happens, we'l have tons to show.

Series 5 will undergoing RE-SHOOTS - Doctor Who Fan Film Series 5

On Saturday 19th, a group of members at MB & Homeland sat down to watch all of the footage that we have so far for Episode 1. Everyone left the screening unhappy with how it had turned out, agreeing that something had to be done. A few days later they came to an agreement to re-shoot 30% of the footage for Episode 1. Which could take up to a week of filming, delaying other plans.
Aaron Hooper & Samuel Moore
discussing filming

The main reason for re-shoots is because so far the plot of Episode 1 isn't the best it could be, and seeing as its the first story, its most likely going to be the one that a majority of people click on. So we want it to be the best we can possibly make it. Everything on Episode 1 is already filmed apart from a small scene at the beginning. So after the re-shoots, it should all be done.

In other news; the first trailer for Series 5 went up on the YouTube channel, revealing the name of the first episode (Origins), the release date for the series (28th September) as well as a small teaser from the NEXT Doctor at the end of the trailer.
