The Most CONTROVERSIAL Episode? - Doctor Who Christmas Special

This year's Christmas Special appears to have had a lot of backlash leaving many viewers confused... but why? What's so controversial about this year's episode?

The Doctor didn't DIE?
A lot of fans were disappointed to find that The Doctor didn't regenerate in this Christmas Special, despite a lot of the promotional content implying he would. Both the Series 4 Trailer 5 and Christmas Trailer appeared to show The Doctor in pain and about to regenerate.

So WHY didn't he?
We wanted to do something different. Regenerations at Christmas are VERY cliché, every Doctor of New Who have regenerated at Christmas apart from Eccleston (and technically Tennant on New Years Day) so we wanted to leave it as a surprise and shock for the audience. Plus we'd prefer people enjoyed the story instead of wishing upon an actor's departure,

When WILL he regenerate?
At some point during Series 5... whether its the beginning, middle or end. But he will definitely regenerate, casting and work has already begun on future plans up until 2021.

When will Series 5 come out?
Towards the end of 2019... which is a while away (At least its closer than the BBC's Series 12) but we will have a trailer for the series next month.

Who is The Next Doctor? Or are you bluffing?
Next Month! ... you'll all find out then.

Picking Cherries Cancelled - The Future Of Podcasts

We will no longer be producing Picking Cherries as of January 2019, we will air two more episodes in November and December.
Picking Cherries Logo
Picking Cherries has been going since November 2014 and is one of our longest running shows.
The reason for cancelling is mainly to do with a lack of views. We have released 29 Episodes of the show, we will finish on our 31st.

Christmas Special Filming has begun...

Filming has restarted on the Christmas Special, we began it in March back when it snowed very heavily in the UK.

The cast all came together on Saturday to film a large portion of the Christmas Special. Now there are only a few small gaps to fill in, then editing will commence.

Despite being Christmas, the episode won't be very festive. It's going to go down a much darker route. The episode will mainly certain around something terrible happening which has a huge impact on The Doctor and the future.

Everything changing at MB & Homeland in 2019

We are at the moment getting all our plans together for next year, here is a list of everything that will be changing to the channel as of January 2019.

New Logo:
Work on a new logo has already begun and will replace the current on January 1st. The new logo will hopefully reflect the channel more and relate to the content we make. The logo is currently being edited by several different members to make sure it looks the best that it can be.
Current MB & Homeland Logo

Updated Blogger Layout:
This change has already begun, our blogger has now a new colour scheme and layout, to match the channel and theme of the content.

New Series? Maybe
We are currently thinking of bringing out a new comedy series called 'Society' which will take the mick out of weird things people do in society which is considered normal and acceptable. This series is could be quite controversial, that's why we are quite hesitant to bring it out. This series would not release until late 2019 into 2020.

Carpool Podcast? Maybe
We've recently been trying to come up with a new way to present our podcasts, we are currently in discussion about possibly turning it into a carpool series, where we drive around with a special guest in the back scene. The series would be presented by Jordan, Sam and Mark with a special guest each month. This could start as early as October 2018.

Everyone Is Returning!

So at the moment we are super busy at MB & Homeland, getting ready to film the Christmas Special, as well as working out what our plans are for next year.

A small survey was posted in a private MB & Homeland group with members to find out who would be up for returning for the next year content. In this survey we explained a little bit about our plans, include some plot points, and so far everyone responded extra excited for the plans, and everyone from Series 4 will be returning for next year, including some new faces.

We've also been working on our police box recently, but we can reveal just yet what we've done.

Hopefully by the beginning of October we will have a trailer for the Christmas Special, as well as a finale announcement on our plans next year.

The Future Plans For MB & Homeland

Last Saturday we all sat down and had a meeting discussing the plans for the rest of this year and next year. We have finally reached a agreement on what will happen. The plan is...

Doctor Who Episode 12 - Coming Christmas 2018
So with Episode 11 coming out this Saturday. Some of you are wondering what are future plans are for Doctor Who. We will bring out a twelve episode this Christmas to conclude Series 4.

Channel Logo Update - Coming January 2019
We've been looking at our channel logo for the last couple of weeks and feel like it needs a big update. A lot of people don't know why a Cat and the Earth are in our logo, so it would be better to start fresh and include something new. Our channel is quite well known for our Tardis Interior and Exterior, so maybe putting a police box on the logo might make more sense.

Political Rage Short Film - Coming Early 2019
Some people have been wondering what will happen with Political Rage, seeing as Season 2 ended on a cliffhanger. We've decided that we will wrap up the story in a short film ranging from 10 - 15 minutes.

Star Wars Lost With The Force - Coming Mid 2019
A lot of people are very confused about Star Wars, and we don't blame you. We brought out a Trailer for our next Star Wars film May 2017, and no one has heard anything since, we can now reveal that it will be coming out sometime in the middle of 2019.

Doctor Who Specials - Coming Late 2019
We are very pleased to announce that after Series 4 there will be a few specials coming late 2019. How many specials? We can't say yet, but no more than 4 or 5. So far we have some amazing ideas to use for these episodes and we will be working extra hard to make them the best stories we've ever done.

The Future - Being Of 2020
We aren't sure exactly what will happen after 2019, we fear that we might slowly fade away as so many of us are moving on with our lives, heading off to universities, jobs, starting families, etc, but one thing is certain. Our Episodes & Films will always be available on YouTube.

Series 4 - The episodes so far

Episode 1 to 5 have been uploaded to the YouTube channel and can be found here
Sam, Brandon & Tom on a break between filming

So far the feedback has been great and there haven't been any really big complains or problems with the episodes. Episode 6 will air this Saturday

Some people have been wondering how many episodes there will be. We can reveal that there are a total of 12 episodes. 11 of them will air from April until July. The last episode will be the Christmas Special in which filming begins very soon.

Series 4 - Made by the fans

We've had a big following since the trailers for the 2017 Movie and Series 4 went online. Quite a few fans have even made stuff for us to help build up the hype for Series 4.

JR Pictures made this trailer for the series.
And here is a piece of music which a guy called Rainbow Whooves thought would be good for the series and used some promotion pictures we made to help build up the hype.

In our last blog post we showed the Thumbnail for Episode 1. That was made by Robert J Horsnall.

After Series 4... - MB & Homeland News

Series 4 isn't even out yet and with filming wrapping in a months time, its about time we planned what will happen next, in late 2018 and beyond.
[From left] Brandon Messer, Samuel Moore, Graham Bray
Colin Bray & Mark Bray filming for Christmas Special

So as the photo above shows, we did do some filming in the big snow storm which hit where we live on the 2nd March. The scenes filmed are for the Christmas Special which will come out 25th December.

But what happens after that?
So we are unsure whether or not to do a Series 5 or to perhaps do a bunch of Specials [Similar to Doctor Who 2008-10]

A lot of people have been asked recently  'Is this going to be Sam's last series?' and our response to that is simply 'We don't know... yet' but at the same time, if Sam didn't want to continue for anymore stories, we wouldn't make it public as we'd prefer to surprise the viewers. Who knows, we could be lying in the sentences above, we might have already filmed something, we also might be telling the truth... the mind boggles.

posing after filming on Series 4
So far our plan for after Series 4 is to release a brand new Star Wars Fan Film, as well as finishing Political Rage in a short movie special. In 2019 we are unsure what will happen, we aim to release more Doctor Who, it could be a series, special, movie, audio series, etc.

Hopefully after Series 4 is released, we will have a much clearer idea going forward.

Episode 5 is Done!! - Thoughts after premier

On the 13th January we held a small premier for the cast and crew of Series 4 of MB & Homeland Doctor Who Fan Film. After looking at everything, we have finally decided that Episode 5 is complete and needs no more editing.
Cast of Episode 5
Of Series 4

But what is Episode 5?
Episode 5 is written by Mark Bray and is called 'Out Of The Blue'
Episode 1 is scheduled to come out the 28th April 2018, which means Episode 5 will be released on the 26th May 2018.
Brandon Messer acting
next the Tardis

During the premier we only watched Episode 1 to 5. The other 5 episodes will be watched some time next month. After the premier, there was very little to say. A lot of people felt very satisfied with the footage and only a few tweaks in the editing room needed to be done.

So what happens now?
Now that Episode 5 is done, we will finish filming for the rest of the series and hopefully hold a second premier in February to look at Episode 6 to 10

Doctor Who Series 4: 28 weeks later - What's new for 2018?

So now that its 2018, we've got a lot of work to do on Series 4. Its scheduled for release in 15 weeks and 2 days.
Brandon Messer & Samuel Moore
On break during filming

Filming on Series 4 has passed 77% overall and is hoping to reach 80% by the end of the month. There is only one filming day this month on the 27th Jan, from now until then no filming will take place, but on the 13th Jan the crew at MB & Homeland will sit down and watch all the footage from Episode 1 to 5 of Series 4 and give feedback.
Shaun Mitchell, Mark Bray
& Jordan Crowther-Russell

So far Episode 1, 2 & 5 are the closest to being complete, with Episode 3 & 4 needing filming done in February & March. After the premier on the 13th January, Episode 5 should be complete. Episode 6 to 10 have quite a bit of filming left to do. Another small premier will happen in March to look at those episodes.
