Reasons Why Original Content DOESN'T WORK! - Short Film News

So some of you may have seen our new Political Rage Short Film but sadly most of you probably haven't, it hasn't gained mainly views but yet something like our Doctor Who trailer can gain a thousand in less than a month. Why is that?

Here's a list of reasons why we rarely make original content and why it doesn't works:

No One is Searching it:
So the great thing about Star Wars and Doctor Who Fan Films is everyday someone is searching something related to them, meaning there is always a high chance that someone could stumbling across one of our videos, with stuff like Short Films or Original Content (Like Political Rage) Its rare for people to come across these unless you promote them really well.

We Can't Promote Them:
Like mentioned in the previous point, its very hard for us to promote our own content as we are a small amateur film making group, so we don't have the budge to get ads on websites or put up posters around our local city or across the country. This makes it difficult for people to hear about them.

We Are Beginners At This:
Even though our short films and shows have been some of our best work, we are still beginners at all of this, none of us claim to be professionals. So its inevitable that most of our original content will be overlooked by most people

This doesn't mean we won't keep making our own original stuff, it just means that we might not promote it as much as we do our other work, just because normally it doesn't make much of a difference.

Work on Series 5 is a NIGHTMARE! .... but doable - Doctor Who Series 5

At the moment very little filming has happened since the end of January. This is mainly due to the fact that we are all focusing on how we can improve Episode 1. So far the story is really good, but we want it to be even better! We are currently writing small scenes which could fit in between some stuff. Filming on Episode 2 continues next month, and we estimated that work on Episode 3 should be done by the beginning of June.

The series is a challenge but very fun to work on, and its great to see such a big flow of ideas from everyone. At the moment we are sadly struggling to put everyone's ideas into the series, hopefully saving some for future stories. It goes to show that tones of people are keen and enthusiastic about this series, we all believe that this will be the best we've ever made.

Series 5 is RISKY! Here's why - Doctor Who Fan Film Series 5

The great thing about a lot of the actors at MB & Homeland is you know they'll commit to the very end. The big concern at the moment is the number of new faces that will be appearing in Series 5. The trouble with new people is they can be very unpredictable, things such as life, work and family can get in the way, making things uncertain.

No one has a contract or is getting paid, so theoretically there's nothing stopping them from just one day getting up and leaving, which causes delays and re-shoots. Luckily nothing like this has happened to Series 5, the re-shoots that we recently did were because of footage we were unhappy with, nothing to do with actors leaving. But it has always been a worry, we don't want to be half way through filming an episode for someone to suddenly drop out. So we are taking extra care.

This is the main reason for Series 5 not being released until September 2019, it means if anything was to pop up, we have time to recover, and carry on.

We also don't want to show any footage of the 'Next Doctor' because we are saving all of that for after his debut appearance. This does mean we have a limited amount of promotional content to share, but after the reveal happens, we'l have tons to show.
